Kelly’s Fuel & Provisions
With a goal of creating a modern property that would harken back to historic Route 66, Paul Kelley Architecture collaborated with Tim Kelly of Hillstone Restaurant Group, the developer of the new R+D Kitchen next door, to transform an existing closed service station into the upscale Kelly’s Fuel & Provisions. Currently the only fuel stop between Napa and St. Helena, Kelly’s provides a much-needed service for the community and tourists alike. The station’s interior service bays became a mix of upscale convenience store and espresso bar — with a bit of whimsy thrown in. Hillstone was very interested in preserving the feel of the raw elements as a backdrop to wine- and picnic-related sales for visitors on the go. Together, Kelley and Kelly created an homage to the past with every provision for the present.
