Napa Pool-House Retreat
The owners of this special retreat, a bicoastal couple who met on a plane, were drawn to the Napa Valley and loved this property so much that they got married on the site — between phases of construction! Echoing the plaster banding and employing contemporary interpretations of the older main residence, the pool-house compound became a true focal point of the site. Paul Kelley placed and designed the new structure and its surroundings for ultimate symmetry: Look through the windows of the main house, past the landscape and tranquil pool, to see all the way through the pool house — a true open-air sanctuary for indoor–outdoor living. The interior also relies on strong symmetry, drawn from the central fireplace, and reflected in the soffited ceiling that Kelley created with coffers and warm wood infill. Joined by an outdoor kitchen under a lovely pergola, cabanas and lush landscaping, this is truly an oasis that celebrates the Napa lifestyle.
